IEA037I   LOSS OF TIMING ONLY LINK HAS BEEN DETECTED.

Explanation

This message is issued when z/OS® is notified that a timing-only coupling link has gone offline.

A timing-only coupling link is a link between two non-CF servers. The link is defined as timing-only using the Hardware Configuration Dialog (HCD).

System action

The system continues processing.

Operator response

Notify the system programmer. The same event may occur on the other server connected by the timing-only link.

System programmer response

If the link loss is not expected (that is, a link manually taken offline), you'll need to determine what caused the link failure. Additional detail can be gathered from various sources:
  1. Message IEA037I will be issued on z/OS systems running on servers connected on both sides of the link (at z/OS V2R2 or later releases).
  2. Details can be found on the hardware message log using the HMC.

Monitor for additional z/OS messages which indicate a loss of redundancy as a result of link failure. For details on timing-only links, see section 2.2.2 of Server Time Protocol Planning Guide, SG24-7280.
