If an ABEND is issued explicitly from a preprocessing exit entered for allocation (IGGPRE00), you get message IEF197I SYSTEM ERROR DURING ALLOCATION. The job attempting the allocation fails with a JCL error, and a dump is not called. We do not recommend issuing ABEND alone for getting the information you need in that exit, but it is useful in other exits.
