Function
The VARYL dynamic support program (DSP) unassigns an IBM® 3480 or higher tape drive from JES3 local mains. You must invoke the VARYL DSP from each local main to which the IBM 3480 or higher is assigned before using the device for a stand-alone dump.
Using the *START command unassigns the IBM 3480 tape drive from the local main.
