Recording message traffic

JES3 and MVS™ record all message traffic in the system log. Each DLOG entry includes a time stamp, a date stamp, and the text of the message. Each entry in the log can also include:
  • The JES3 destination class to which the message was routed.
  • The console from which a command was entered
  • The console to which a message was routed.
  • The name of the job associated with the message.
  • Whether the system suppressed the message from console display.
  • The system ID for messages issued by another processor.
  • Flags indicating unusual conditions or marking lines of special interest.

Figure 1 shows sample log entries.
