- Utility control statements do not support temporary data set names
that begin with an ampersand. You can code the complete name generated
for the data set by the system (for example, DSNAME=SYS95296.T000051.RP001.JOBTEMP.TEMPMOD).
For utilities where you identify data sets only on DD statements or
the dynamic allocation equivalent, you can use a temporary data set
name that begins with an ampersand.
- The utility programs described in this publication do not normally
support VSAM data sets. For certain exceptions, refer to the various
program descriptions.
- You identify ASCII tape data sets with LABEL=(,AL) or OPTCD=Q.
The
utilities that read or write binary (non-text) data on tape do not
support ASCII tapes. This is because ASCII tapes require all data
to be text. The utilities that do not support ASCII tapes include
IEBCOPY, IEHMOVE, and IFHSTATR.
