After defining SMS as a subsystem to z/OS, IPL each system in the SMS complex. The presence of the SMS entry in IEFSSNxx tells z/OS to recognize SMS as a valid subsystem within each system. The absence of the IGDSSIIN module name in IEFSSNxx tells the system that you want to start SMS manually.
