Determine the extent of the incorrect output.
- Use the LISTCAT command as described in the topic on functional
command format in z/OS DFSMS Access Method Services Commands to obtain a complete
listing of the catalog.
- Use the IEHLIST program as described in z/OS DFSMSdfp Utilities to
obtain a listing of the VTOC. This might be useful when diagnosing
problems in managing DASD volume space or in using access method services
commands.
- Use the DIAGNOSE command as described in the topic on
functional command format in z/OS DFSMS Access Method Services Commands to determine whether
a catalog structure is correct. Include any reason codes produced
by DIAGNOSE in your search argument.
Example:
If the reason code is 23, specify it as follows:
DIAGNOSE RC23
- Use the IDCAMS EXAMINE command as described in the topic on functional
command format in z/OS DFSMS Access Method Services Commands and the topic on
checking a VSAM key-sequenced data set cluster for structural errors
in z/OS DFSMS Using Data Sets to determine whether the catalog being
used has been damaged and the nature of any damage.
If the output
of these service aids (LISTCAT, IEHLIST, DIAGNOSE, or EXAMINE) indicates
that the catalog is not damaged, inform the IBM® Support Center if you call for assistance. If
they indicate that the catalog is damaged, keep a copy of the output
for possible use by the IBM Support
Center. Be prepared to describe the type of catalog damage. You should
attempt to recover the catalog and rerun the failing job to determine
whether the problem is resolved.
