Before you return control to open, place one of the following codes in register 15:

The system attempts to recover from the abend. If the option flag bit one is on (OAIXREW) the system rewinds the tape volume and sets the UCBFSCT and UCBFSEQ fields in the UCB to zero before attempting to recover from the abend.

If the option flag bit 1 is off, the system attempts to recover from the abend.
