Multivolume Data Sets

z/OS DFSMSdfp Checkpoint/Restart
SC23-6862-00

When multivolume output data sets have nonspecific volume allocation such as UNIT=SYSDA, the abnormal disposition must be coded as KEEP to ensure that if the job is restarted, all volume serial numbers are put into the catalog. For example, use DISP=(NEW,CATLG,KEEP), not DISP=(NEW,CATLG,CATLG).
