Data Spaces

z/OS DFSMSdfp Checkpoint/Restart
SC23-6862-00

A program can use checkpoint/restart while it has one or more entries for a data space on its access list (DU-AL or PASN-AL). In such a case, the CHKPT macro only processes successfully if the program has specified on the ALESERV macro that entries made to the access list for the data space should be ignored for checkpoint/restart processing (CHKPT=IGNORE). A program that specifies the CHKPT=IGNORE option assumes full responsibility for managing the data space storage after a restart operation.

See z/OS MVS Programming: Assembler Services Reference ABE-HSP and z/OS MVS Programming: Assembler Services Guide for more information about the ALESERV macro.
