Configuring tenant data

In the Database Information application, you can perform some customizations to the database. For example, you can modify the length of the description attribute. You can also customize system messages, define lookup maps, electronic signature options, and general ledger accounts.

The information that is shown in the Database Information application is a read-only subset of the database information that you can download from any table window. When you make changes to the database, if the global administrator has pending changes, you cannot apply your changes until the pending changes are applied. If you make configuration changes in error, you can discard the changes and revert to the previous values. This action does not discard any changes that are made by the global administrator.

Responsibilities for database configuration
The system provider and tenants share responsibility for configuring the database. The global administrator prepares template data and configures system-level values before tenants are created. Tenants configure tenant-level values and can make some changes to database structures.
Data isolation in a multitenancy database
When a tenant is created, an area of the database is isolated for the tenant data. The database area is populated with system data, template data, and master data. The global administrator manages the template data.

Defining a lookup map
As a tenant, you can define a lookup map to associate a source object and a source field with a target object and related fields. The product includes many predefined lookup maps, but you can define your own lookup maps for objects that you create.

As a tenant administrator, you can add and change the system messages that display when required to assist users as they use the application. To work with the system messages you must have the signature option Messages assigned to your user group.

If you modify a message, and then delete your change, the original message is shown. You can delete messages that you created, but you cannot delete messages that are shared with other tenants. Configuration of general ledger accounts for a tenant
In a multitenancy environment, the global administrator sets the maximum length of general ledger (GL) account codes. You configure the components of GL account codes for your tenant data but the combined length of your components cannot exceed the maximum length set by the global administrator.
