Client requirements

Make sure that your computer complies with the system requirements to use IBM® Mail support for Microsoft Outlook. In addition, make sure that you set required settings in Microsoft Outlook and IBM Notes®.

System requirements

One of the following versions of Microsoft Outlook and a Microsoft Windows release that supports it:
  • Microsoft Outlook 2010 (32-bit or 64-bit), with the latest Microsoft Office service pack.
  • Microsoft Outlook 2013 (32-bit or 64-bit), with the latest Microsoft Office service pack.
  • Microsoft Outlook 2016 (32-bit or 64-bit), with the latest Microsoft Office service pack.

IBM Notes required settings

The following table describes the Notes settings that are required for correct operation of IBM Mail support for Microsoft Outlook.

  • Display new (unprocessed) notices: Enabled
  • Process cancelled meetings automatically: Enabled with Show as cancelled in calendar option enabled.
More > Preferences > Calendar > Display:
  • Display new (unprocessed) notices: Enabled
  • Process cancelled meetings automatically: Enabled with Show as cancelled in calendar option enabled.
File > Preferences > Calendar and To Do > Display > Notices:
  • Display the following meeting notices in my Inbox: All (or All except responses)
  • Remove meeting notices from my Inbox after I process them: Enabled
  • Automatically process meeting updates and apply changes to meetings: Enabled
More > Preferences > Calendar > Display:
  • Types of Meeting notices to be shown in your Inbox: All (or All except responses)
  • Remove Meeting invitations from your Inbox after you have responded to them: Enabled
  • Automatically process meeting updates and apply changes to meetings: Enabled
File > Preferences > Mail > Internet > Format for Internet-Style Reply or Forward - Internet mail format:
HTML only or HTML and Plain Text
Note: If this parameter is set to Plain Text only, certain inline images in mail messages that are sent from IBM Notes might appear as file attachments in Microsoft Outlook.
