Simplify backup operations for data in NetApp clusters
With Tivoli® Storage Manager Version 7.1.4, you can simplify the process of backing up data that is on a network-attached storage (NAS) device in a NetApp cluster. You can configure Tivoli Storage Manager to use the NetApp Cluster Aware Backup extension, which facilitates backup operations in a clustered environment.
When you configure Tivoli Storage
Manager to use the Cluster Aware Backup extension, you can set up backup operations in different ways:
- You can back up all volumes in a NetApp cluster to a single Tivoli Storage Manager node. Even if you move the volumes within the cluster to balance the workload, backup operations continue and no reconfiguration is required.
- You can use a virtual server, the NetApp storage virtual machine, to limit the backup operation to part of a cluster. This method is useful when storage virtual machines are distributed among multiple organizations. Each organization can manage backup operations separately.
