Archive diagnostic messages by using operating system tools
Tivoli® Storage Manager Version 7.1.3 simplifies the process of archiving diagnostic messages by using operating system tools. To archive diagnostic messages, you do not have to reset the DBDIAGLOGSIZE server option every time that the server is started.
In earlier releases, the maximum value of the DBDIAGLOGSIZE server option was automatically reset to 1024 each time the server was restarted, and it was not possible to change this. This setting limited space for diagnostic log files to 1024 MB. In this release, you can set the value of the DBDIAGLOGSIZE server option to 0. If you specify a value of 0, only one log file is used for all diagnostic messages. No limits are imposed on the size of the log file. In this way, you can archive diagnostic messages without having to reset the DBDIAGLOGSIZE value and interrupt system operations.
