User exit and file exit receivers

The data structure of the user exit receivers applies to the file exit receivers. To use one of these exits with Tivoli® Storage Manager, you must specify the corresponding server option (FILEEXIT, FILETEXTEXIT, or USEREXIT) in the server options file.

AIX operating systemsThe samples for the C, H, and make files are shipped with the server code in the /usr/lpp/adsmserv/bin directory.

HP-UX operating systemsThe samples for the C, H, and make files are shipped with the server code in the /opt/adsmserv/bin directory.

Linux operating systemsThe samples for the C, H, and make files are shipped with the server code in the /opt/tivoli/tsm/server/bin directory.

Oracle Solaris operating systemsThe samples for the C, H, and make files are shipped with the server code in the /opt/IBMadsm-s/bin directory.

Windows operating systemsThe samples for the C, H, and make files are shipped with the server code in the \win32app\ibm\adsm directory.

  1. Use caution in modifying these exits. A user exit abend will bring down the server.
  2. The file specified in the file exit option will continue to grow unless you prune it.
