Tivoli® Storage FlashCopy® Manager Version
4.1 contains several new features and changes.
- Additional options for restoring personal storage folders
- If you restore personal storage folders (.pst files),
there are two options: Restore Mail to Unicode PST file and Restore
Mail to non-Unicode PST file. Unicode .pst files
can store messages in multiple languages, and are not limited to 2
GB of data. For non-Unicode .pst files, the file
size must be less than 2 GB. For more information about restoring
mailboxes and mailbox data, including .pst files,
see Restoring an Exchange Server mailbox.
- Collecting remote diagnostic data
- Collecting diagnostic data for a remote system using Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager is different than collecting data for a local system.
You can update the Diagnostics property page
to collect the correct log and trace files for remote data collection.
- Group management, reports, and status reporting
- When you want to generate group reports and facilitate group status
reporting, you can use the Management Console (MMC).
- Managing remotely
- From one Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager installation you can manage all of the Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager installations in your enterprise. You can also create
groups of computers to manage. When you manage a group, the Protect, Recover,
and Automate tabs change to Group
Dashboard, Group Reports, and Group
Commands tabs.
- Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 support
When planning to restore Exchange Server 2013 mailboxes, there
is a requirement for MAPI clients to use RPC over HTTPS (also known
as Outlook Anywhere). RPC over HTTP is no longer supported. More planning
information, and a link to the troubleshooting topic, is provided.
- Improving mailbox history handling
- To improve performance, mailbox history includes only the mailboxes
from databases than are backed up. If you back up mailbox history
with a version of FlashCopy Manager
for Microsoft Exchange
Server earlier
than version 4.1, you can manually delete the old mailbox history.
Details, including instructions, are provided.
- Restoring mailboxes on remote systems
- The process of restoring mailboxes on a remote system with Mailbox
Restore Browser is a little different so specific instructions
are provided in this topic. For all other mailbox restore tasks completed
on remote systems, you can use the instructions provided in subsequent
sections.
- Restoring mailboxes directly from Exchange database files
- With all Data Protection for Exchange configurations,
administrators can complete an individual mailbox restore for an .edb file
stored on a disk. For administrators who only want to complete individual
mailbox restores from an .edb file on disk, the Mailbox
Restore Only configuration option is available. The .edb file
can come from a backup that mounted read-write using Tivoli Storage
Manager for Virtual Environments, Tivoli Storage Manager restore files,
or an offline file system copy.
- Windows PowerShell and Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager
- The Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager software
includes Windows PowerShell cmdlets to complement the command-line
interface functions.
- Automated failover for data recovery
- If you use Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager with
the Tivoli Storage
Manager configuration,
when the Tivoli Storage
Manager server
is unavailable, Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager can
automatically fail over to the secondary server for
data recovery.
