Monitoring the number of process instances and tasks

You can create alert definitions to generate alerts when certain conditions apply such as the number of process instances or tasks goes beyond a threshold. The resulting alerts can be displayed or sent to administrators so that they can investigate and take action.

About this task

IBM® Business Process Manager has business process management (BPM) alerts to monitor the number of process instances and tasks in the system or some other condition. The BPM alerts generated from alert definitions are accessible through REST and JavaScript APIs. You can use these APIs to display the alerts in a user interface, to trigger sending the alerts in emails, or to include the alerts in some other alert delivery system. The BPM Alerts sample is an example of displaying alerts as a page in the Process Admin Console. You can download the sample from the Use home in the IBM Business Process Manager Developer Center
Important: IBM Business Monitor also generates alerts. The Business Monitor alerts are based on business metrics or key performance indicators (KPIs) instead of system artifacts. For information, see IBM Business Monitor overview.
