Product version and history information

You can determine the installed version of the product by looking at the version and the build date (also specified as a build number) that is displayed in the WebSphere® Application Server administrative console welcome page or in the output of the versionInfo command.

The first six digits of the build date represent the year and month the installed product version was released, for example:
  • Version 8.5.6.0 starts with "201503"
  • Version 8.5.6.1, which is Cumulative Fix 1 starts with "201509"
  • Version 8.5.6.2, which is Cumulative Fix 2 starts with "201512"
The following example displays the output of the versionInfo command with the -fixpacks option:

You can also determine the version and build level from the Java™ virtual machine (JVM) SystemOut.log header information, for example:
WebSphere [BPMPC 8.5.6.0 20150922-143833][IBMJAVA7 7.0.9.10 cf081545.02]Platform 8.5.5.6 [ND 8.5.5.6 cf061521.02] running with process name BPMCell\Dmgr\dmgr and process id 4144
In the JVM log file, while the version is displayed as "8.5.6.0," you can determine from the build date "20150922" that Cumulative Fix 1 is installed.
