You can manage the IBM® Business
Process Manager virtual
application instances that are running in your cloud. You can start,
stop, or delete your virtual application instance and view the endpoints
that are associated with the instance.
About this task
A virtual application instance is a provisioned
IBM BPM runtime
environment that is created when a pattern or template is deployed
into the cloud.
Procedure
To manage IBM BPM virtual
application instances, use the following steps in the Virtual
Application Instances window.
- To restart a stopped virtual application instance in the
cloud, click Start
. Virtual
application instances are not always in the started state. When a
virtual application instance is in the stopped state, you can restart
the virtual application instance.Restarting the virtual application
instance in the cloud does not happen instantly. The time depends
on the virtual application instance size and the system activity. When
the deployment process is in progress or all the virtual machines
in a cluster are not yet started, the status shows that the instance
is starting.
Processing is complete when you see either a message
that says The virtual application has been deployed
and is ready to use, or the Failed icon
(
).
- To stop a running virtual application, click Stop
. Stopping the virtual application
instance does not happen instantly. All virtual machines are stopped
when a virtual application instance is stopped. If you must stop only
certain virtual machines, use the associated virtual machine actions.
Stopping a virtual application instance does not release the associated
resources.
- To remove the virtual application instance and release
the resources, click Delete
.
- Administer endpoints and virtual machines. If
the instance is running in the cloud, you can access the endpoints
and virtual machines from the following views within the instance:
- Middleware perspective
- This perspective lists the endpoints in the virtual application
instance. You can access detailed information, including log files,
about the endpoints.
- Virtual machine perspective
- This perspective lists the virtual machines in the virtual application
instance. You can stop, restart, configure, and test the connection
for each virtual machine. You can view the logs for each virtual machine
and view more detailed information.
What to do next
Attention: When you change the password of the
database or the binding password, on an IBM BPM database
node or an LDAP node for example, you might also have to change the
configuration IBM BPM.
You might have to change the authentication alias, for example.
