IBM® FileNet® P8 requires specific IBM FileNet P8 add-ons to run searches, support social collaboration features, thumbnails, and so on. You must have the add-ons installed on the repositories that you want to use with IBM FileNet P8.

- To use IBM Content
Navigator,
you must have the following add-ons installed:
- Content Engine Base Extensions, which are required for all Content Engine configurations.
- Base Application Extensions, which are a prerequisite for Search Extensions and the Workplace Base Extensions.
- Search Extensions, which are required to browse and search for content in IBM Content Navigator.
- Workplace Base Extensions, which are required to browse and search for content in IBM Content Navigator
Workplace Template Extensions, which are required to open folders in IBM Content
Navigator.
- Add-ons required for forms support
- To use IBM Forms or IBM FileNet P8 eForms with IBM Content
Navigator, you must
have the Workplace Forms Extensions installed.
- Add-ons required for workflow support
- To use workflows with IBM Content Navigator, you must have the Process Engine Extensions installed.
- Add-ons required for entry template support
- To access or modify entry templates that were created in IBM FileNet Workplace XT, you must have the following add-ons installed:

- Add-ons required for IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office
- To use IBM Content
Navigator for Microsoft Office,
you must have the following add-ons installed:
- Workplace Template Extensions, which are required for entry template functionality. Adding documents by using entry templates is the default scenario in IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office.
- Workplace E-mail Extensions, which are required to add email to Microsoft Outlook from IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office.
- Add-ons required for social collaboration support
- To use social collaboration features in IBM Content
Navigator, you must
have the following add-ons installed:
- Social Collaboration Base Extensions
- Social Collaboration Search Indexing Extensions
- Social Collaboration Notification Extensions

- To see thumbnails in IBM Content
Navigator, you must have the Thumbnails
Extensions installed. When you have the Thumbnail Extensions installed, IBM Content
Navigator retrieves document thumbnails from Content Engine, rather than generating document previews. This improves the
performance and scalability of IBM Content
Navigator. Restriction: Thumbnails are supported for IBM FileNet P8, Version 5.2 and later users only.
IBM Content Navigator add-ons
IBM Content Navigator also includes several add-ons that you install on your repositories when you administer IBM Content Navigator:- IBM Content Navigator Search Extensions, which are required if you want to save cross-repository searches on an IBM FileNet P8 repository. This add-on is installed when you enable the Cross-repository searches option on the repository.

want to use teamspaces in IBM Content
Navigator. This add-on is installed
when you enable the Teamspaces option on the repository.Tip: IBM FileNet P8, Version 5.2 or later users only: The Teamspace Extensions are included in the IBM FileNet P8 software and can be installed before you install IBM Content Navigator.

Navigator Entry Template Extensions, which are required if
you want to use IBM Content
Navigator to create and manage entry templates.
This add-on is installed when you enable the Entry template management option
on the repository.Important: If you want to access or modify entry templates that were created in IBM FileNet Workplace XT, you must have the Workplace Template Extensions and the Workplace XT Extensions add-ons installed before you enable the Entry template management option on the repository.
- IBM Content Navigator Sync Services Extensions are required if you want to use sync services. This add-on is installed when you enable the Sync Services option on the repository. You must have sync services configured for the IBM Content Navigator web client before you can enable sync services on the repository.
