Enabling teamspace management on your repositories

Teamspaces provide a focused view of the relevant documents, folders, and searches that a team needs to complete their tasks. If you want your users to use teamspaces to organize and share content, you must enable teamspace management on one or more repositories.

Before you begin

IBM Content Manager users only.If you are enabling teamspaces for IBM® Content Manager, determine which ACL or ACLs you will use to manage access to teamspaces, documents, and folders:
  • If you want to use the same ACL to manage access to teamspaces, documents, and folders, you can use the IBM Content Navigator administration tool to associate users with teamspace roles. When you use the IBM Content Navigator administration tool, the ClbTeamspaceACL is updated.
  • If you want to use separate ACLs to manage access to teamspaces, documents, and folders, you must use the IBM Content Manager system administration client to configure security for teamspaces. For more information on what security to configure, see Customizing the security settings outside of the IBM Content Navigator administration tool

Procedure

To enable teamspace management on your repositories:

  1. Open the administration tool in the web client.
  2. Click Repositories and open the repository on which you want to enable teamspace management.
  3. Connect to the repository as a library server administrator (IBM Content Manager) or a Content Platform Engine administrator (IBM FileNet® P8).
  4. In the Optional Features section of the Configuration Parameters tab, select Enable for the teamspace management feature.
  5. Configure any additional options for teamspace management.
  6. Specify which users and groups can create teamspace templates, create teamspaces, and use teamspaces.
    Tip: It is recommended that you use groups to simplify teamspace management.
    IBM Content Manager users only.Remember: If you are enabling teamspaces on IBM Content Manager, and you want to use separate ACLs to manage access to teamspaces, documents, and folders, you must complete this task in the IBM Content Manager system administration client.
  7. Save your changes to the repository configuration.

What to do next

After you enable teamspace management and configure your repository for your environment, you must:
  1. IBM Content Manager users only.If you did not use the administration tool to specify which users have access to teamspaces and teamspace templates, use the IBM Content Manager system administration client to configure security for teamspaces.
  2. Associate the repository with a desktop from the Repositories tab of the desktop.
  3. Enable the teamspace management feature from the Layout tab of the desktop.
