IBM Content Navigator, Version 2.0.3     Supports:  FileNet P8

Configuring the connection to your LDAP server (FileNet P8)

If you plan to use IBM® Content Navigator to connect to IBM FileNet® P8 repositories, you must configure your web application server to use the Content Engine LDAP repository.

Before you begin

This task assumes that you have a configuration profile open in the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool.

On the web application server where you are deploying IBM Content Navigator, if you have an existing LDAP repository that matches the settings on your Content Engine LDAP repository, you can skip this task.

About this task

This task applies only to FileNet P8 users.
Important: The values that you enter must match the values that are set on your Content Engine server.

The IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool does not include every option that you can set when configuring your LDAP server connection. Work with your LDAP server administrator to determine if there are any settings that you must configure that are not included in the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool. If your LDAP server connection includes additional settings, you must manually update your LDAP server connection on your web application server after you run this task. You can open the administrative console for the web application server for Content Engine to ensure that your LDAP configurations match.

Tip: If you are using the wizard to configure the web application and you want to skip this task, click Advanced.

Procedure

To configure the connection to your LDAP server:

  1. Open the following task in your configuration profile: Configure the Connection to Your LDAP Server.
  2. Complete the task to configure the LDAP server connection by using the values that you entered in the Worksheet for configuring the connection to your LDAP server.
Tip: You can use the Test LDAP Connection button to ensure that you entered the information about your LDAP server correctly.
  3. Click Next to run the task.
If you are manually running the tasks in the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool, you can:
    • Click Run Task to run the task now. This option makes it easier to troubleshoot and resolve problems if they occur.
    • Wait until all of the tasks are complete and then click Run All Tasks to run all of the tasks required to configure and deploy the web application.
After you complete this task, if you have additional LDAP settings that must be configured manually, before you make any additional changes to the LDAP settings, restart the application server to set the changes that you made in the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool.

What to do next

If your IBM WebSphere® Application Server cell already has security enabled, but you need to run the configure LDAP task to modify the LDAP settings, ensure that you select the Overwrite existing LDAP Respository check box. If you are configuring a stand-alone LDAP repository, you must additionally select the Set as current active user registry check box. If you do not select these check boxes when appropriate, the task will run but no changes will be made to the WebSphere Application Server security configuration.
