IBM® Content
Navigator,
Version 2.0.1 includes a number of enhancements, such as support for
CMIS-based repositories, usability enhancements in the web client,
and support for production imaging.
What's new for users
- Adding multiple documents to the repository
- Supported on the following repositories: IBM Content
Manager, IBM FileNet® P8
- Users can add multiple documents to the repository by dragging
content from their file system into IBM Content
Navigator.
Restriction: Users
cannot specify different properties for each document. When a set
of documents is added to the repository at one time, all of the documents
have the same properties.
- Filtering search results by actions
- Supported on the following repositories: IBM Content
Manager, IBM FileNet P8
- Users can filter search results by a specific date or date range
that an item was added, modified, or checked out. Users can also filter
search results to include only items that specific users or groups
have taken action on.
- Filtering search results by document type
- Supported on the following repositories: IBM Content
Manager, IBM FileNet P8
- Users can filter search results by document type. For example,
users can restrict their search to only PDF documents. IBM Content
Navigator includes filters for Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and PDF documents. However,
administrators can define additional filters in the administration
tool.
For more information about configuring file type filters,
see File type filters

the property names and values as a comma-separate value (CSV) file,
which can be opened in spreadsheets.

Manager, IBM FileNet P8
- Users can edit the properties of documents from any viewer that
opens within the IBM Content
Navigator viewer
framework.

What's new for administrators
- Creating and populating the IBM Content
Navigator database from the Configuration
and Deployment Tool
- When you configure and deploy an instance of IBM Content
Navigator, you can run the script
to create and populate your IBM Content
Navigator database
from the IBM Content
Navigator Configuration
and Deployment Tool.
Important: If you choose not to run the script from
the IBM Content
Navigator Configuration
and Deployment Tool, you can manually run the script on your database
after you deploy the web application. However, you must run the script
on the database before you access the deployed web client.
- For more information, see Getting IBM Content Navigator components up and running
- Enhanced configuration options for accessing desktops from mobile
devices
- When you configure a desktop to be accessed by the mobile application,
you can specify which features users can access and which actions
users can take. For example, you can prevent users from adding photos
or documents from their mobile devices.
- For more information, see Configuring access to IBM Content Navigator from mobile devices.
- Fallback viewers for situations in which a viewer is not supported
- When you configure IBM Content
Navigator, you create one or more
viewer maps to specify which viewer to use to view the different file
types in your repository. Each viewer supports a specific set of file
types. However, some of the viewers that work with IBM Content
Navigator are not supported on
every server platform or client platform that IBM Content
Navigator supports. In some cases, IBM Content
Navigator can automatically select
a different viewer to use if another viewer is included in your viewer
map. This behavior is called the fallback behavior, and the second
viewer is called a fallback viewer. The second viewer must be included
in your viewer map to be used as a fallback viewer. You can include
multiple fallback viewers in your viewer map.
- For more information, see Supported viewers.
- Support for repositories that supports the CMIS standard
- IBM Content
Navigator can be
used to connect to any IBM Enterprise
Content Manager repository that supports the OASIS Content Management Interoperability
Services (CMIS) standard, such as FileNet P8, IBM Content
Manager, and IBM Content
Manager OnDemand. To connect to repositories
that are not IBM Enterprise
Content Manager repositories, use OASIS Content Management Interoperability
Services.
- For more information, see Planning for OASIS Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS).
- Integration with Microsoft Office
- You can deploy IBM Content
Navigator for Microsoft Office to
the client machines in your environment. IBM Content
Navigator for Microsoft Office enables users to search
for and browse for content that is stored on your content management
systems from Microsoft Office
applications.
- This feature is supported on the following repositories: IBM FileNet P8
- This feature is provided as a technology preview on the following
repositories: IBM Content
Manager
- For more information, see Integrating IBM Content Navigator with Microsoft Office.
What's new for developers
- New content list widget
- The new content list widget provides the ability to view the content
list in multiple ways. The new content list widget replaces the content
list widget that was included in the IBM Content
Navigator V2.0.0 APIs and supports
all of the features of the V2.0.0 content list widget.
- Custom viewer integration
- Enhancements to the viewer widget package make it easier to integrate
custom viewers in the web client.
- File upload functionality
- Changes to the existing widget classes enable you to create plug-ins
that can be used to upload files to your content management server.
