Install IBM Spectrum Protect on Linux Ubuntu Server LTS
You can install IBM Spectrum Protect™ Version 8.1.3 on the Ubuntu Server 16.04 LTS operating system. After you install and configure the V8.1.3 server on Ubuntu Server 16.04 LTS, you can back up data to disk devices and cloud object storage.
The installation packages include the server and license, device driver tools, and the
storage agent. The following restrictions apply:
- You cannot use tape storage.
- You cannot use the disaster recovery manager (DRM).
- You cannot optimize data transfer to remote servers by enabling Aspera® Fast Adaptive Protocol (FASP®) technology.
- You cannot set up a clustered environment.
- You cannot use the Operations Center to monitor and manage the system.
- You cannot protect directory-container storage pools by using the PROTECT STGPOOL command.
