If
you receive a client authentication error, it might
be as a result of an expired password. Password expiration does not
apply to node or administrator passwords that authenticate with an
LDAP directory server.
Procedure
Complete
the following steps to change the expired password
period:
- To change the password expiration
period
for a particular node, issue the UPDATE NODE server
command with the option PASSEXP=n,
where n is the number of days. A value of 0 disables
the password expiration.
If a Windows client node cannot connect to the server
after it is renamed, verify that the node name was changed in both the client options file and Windows registry. When the client scheduler runs as a
foreground process and uses the DSMC SCHED command, IBM Spectrum Protect™ uses the node name in the client options file to
contact the server. However, when the scheduler runs as a Windows service, IBM
Spectrum Protect uses the node name
in the Windows registry.
- For the Windows client, issue the DSMCUTIL
UPDATE SCHEDULE command to achieve the following results:
- With the node parameter, address how to change the node name that is used
with the IBM
Spectrum Protect scheduler service on Windows
- With the validate:yes parameter, contact the IBM
Spectrum Protect server to authenticate (and store the updated
password)
