IBM Spectrum Protect™ Version 8.1 is the next generation of IBM® Tivoli® Storage Manager. This new release represents more than a name change in the user interface and documentation. It is an evolution to a higher level of data protection that is designed to meet the complex demands of today's world.
IBM Spectrum Protect V8.1 is the result of an agile process that incorporates customer needs and insights throughout the design and development cycle.
Usability improvements in IBM Spectrum Protect V8.1 include updates to the Operations Center, a web-based interface for managing your storage environment. The Operations Center simplifies the configuration of cloud storage, provides more options for storage pool conversion, and streamlines the process of authenticating users with a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol server.
