Installing WebSphere Liberty operator with the Red Hat OpenShift console
A cluster administrator can install a WebSphere® Liberty operator with the Red Hat OpenShift console. Installing by using the console is usually easier and quicker than installing by using the command-line alternative.
Before you begin
Install prerequisites. See Preparing for installation.
The WebSphere Liberty operator requires an Red Hat OpenShift cluster and the IBM® Operator catalog source. The CatalogSources
pods must be running.
Log in to the Red Hat OpenShift cluster as a cluster administrator.
Installing the WebSphere Liberty operator
- Go to the Red Hat OpenShift console.
- Click Operators and OperatorHub from the navigation menu.
- Search for
websphere liberty
. - Click the IBM WebSphere Liberty tile to open the install side page.
- Click Install in the IBM WebSphere Liberty install side page.
- Change the Installation mode. The default selection is the All namespaces on the cluster field, which is the ideal choice for most needs. To learn more about this choice, see Preparing for installation of WebSphere Liberty operator.
- Change the Update approval setting. By default, the Automatic field is selected. Keeping the default ensures your software remains up to date with the most recent security fixes and capability updates.
- Click Install to begin the WebSphere Liberty operator installation.
If you choose an installation mode other than the default, select the namespace in which to install the operator.
After a few minutes, the operator deploys under the specified namespace and is available on the Installed Operators page. The following screen captures show the progression through the installation process.
Results
If the installation completes, the WebSphere Liberty operator is successfully installed on your Red Hat OpenShift cluster.
