Security enhancements

With the number of both internal and external security threats growing, it is important to separate the tasks of keeping data secure from the management tasks of administering critical systems. Building on the enhancements introduced in previous versions, version 11.1 enhancements ensure that your sensitive data is even better protected.

The following table displays a list of security enhancements in 11.1:

Enhancement Description
Row and column access control (RCAC) extended to column-organized tables 11.1 extends row and column access control (RCAC) to now cover column-organized tables in the same way that it has helped secure and protect traditional tables. Row and column access control allows you to regulate data access at the row level, column level, or both. RCAC complements the table privileges model and ensures that your users have access to only the data that is required for their work.
Native encryption now supports the use of centralized key managers 11.1 adds support for centralized key managers to store native encryption master keys. Any key manager product that implements the Key Management Interoperability Protocol (KMIP) version 1.1 or greater can be used. A single centralized key manager can manage encryption keys for many databases.
