Using Streams Explorer

Use the Streams Explorer view to manage your Streams environment.

About this task

The Streams Explorer view contains folders which allow you to access the following objects.

  • Streams Installations
  • Governance Catalogs
  • Streams Domain Connections
  • Streams Jobs
  • Streams Instances
  • Streams Domains
Note: The Properties view shows more details about the object that is selected in the Streams Explorer view. You access the Properties view by selecting the following from the toolbar: Window > Show View > Other. In the Show View dialog, select Properties under General, and then click OK.
  • Defining the installation location
    You define a setting in Streams Explorer view that points to the location where IBM® Streams is installed. The installation location is required and must contain a compatible version of IBM Streams for Streams Studio to function properly.
  • Working with domains in Streams Studio
    You work with domains in Streams Studio to perform tasks such adding domain connections or adding domain resource tags.
  • Working with instances
    You manage and monitor instances in Streams Studio.
  • Working with jobs in IBM Streams Studio
    Jobs represent running SPL applications. You can work with jobs in the Streams Explorer view in Streams Studio.
  • Working with toolkits
    SPL toolkits contain the elements that make up SPL applications. A toolkit is a container of related SPL elements and can include a set of composite operators, primitive operators, native functions, and primitive functions.
