Filtering log and trace files in the Console view

You can filter log and trace files in the Console view to quickly find strings in the log and trace files.

About this task

Log and trace files can contain large number of lines, and it can be difficult to quickly find information that relates to problems. You can filter the files to show only those lines that contain the filter string. For example, you can set a filter to view lines that contain ERROR or a specific message identifier. You can clear the filter and set a different filter to quickly see another subset of the lines that match the filter string.

Procedure

Open the file in the Console view.
To specify a filter:
1. In the Console view, on the toolbar, click the Filter Log icon .
2. In the Filter window, specify the filter string, and click OK.
To clear the filter, on the toolbar, click the Clear Filter icon or open the Filter window by clicking the Filter Log icon and specify an empty string.
