Rational Test Control Panel upgrade information and requirements

Before you upgrade IBM® Rational® Test Control Panel, learn about the general and release-specific considerations and instructions for the upgrade

Important: If you are using IBM Rational Integration Tester and Rational Test Control Panel, you must upgrade Rational Test Control Panel before upgrading Rational Integration Tester because the newer version of Rational Test Control Panel is designed to work with an older version of Rational Integration Tester.

Backing up the workspace

Before you upgrade, ensure that you back up the Rational Test Control Panel workspace. After you upgrade, you cannot roll back your installation to the earlier version.

Upgrading to version 8.6

You can upgrade from V8.5.x to V8.6 without having to uninstall the software. For upgrade instructions, see Upgrading the software.

Adding Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL database driver files after upgrading from v8.5

From version 8.5.1, Rational Test Control Panel includes IBM WebSphere® Application Server Liberty Profile instead of Apache Tomcat as the application server. As a result of this change, the library location for the Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL drivers is changed.

If you use MySQL or SQL Server as the results database, after you upgrade from version 8.5.0.x to version 8.5.1 or later, add the JDBC drivers to the V8.5.1 and later library location.

If you do not add the drivers after the upgrade, you cannot access the results database stored in SQL Server or MySQL databases.

Note: This task applies only when you upgrade from V8.5.0.x to V8.5.1 or later. If you are upgrading from V8.5.1 or later to V8.6, this task does not apply.
