What's new in Version 3.0.1

These new and enhanced capabilities are available in z/OS Explorer Version 3.0.1.

Functions Description
A new RANGE command option is added With the new RANGE command option, you can select the server log files that were updated in the last given number of hours. For more information, see RSE daemon.
Use certificate credentials for SSL-secured connections Use the certificates from keystore files and smart cards to authenticate connections. For more information, see Defining connection credentials and Managing SSL security and certificates.
A new variable is added in rse.env #_RSE_JAVAOPTS="$_RSE_JAVAOPTS -DDISABLE_MIGRATE_HRECALL_HDELETE=true" is added in rse.env. For more information, see Defining extra Java startup parameters with _RSE_JAVAOPTS.
A new environment variable _RSE_UMASK is added Use this variable to specify the access permission mask for z/OS UNIX files and directories that are created by users. For more information, see rse.env, the RSE configuration file.
Locking sequential data sets when in browse mode You can select the check box Lock sequential data sets when in browse mode to emulate the ISPF locking behavior for sequential data sets in browse mode from Window > Preferences > Remote Systems > z/OS > MVS Files page. For more information, see Setting preferences for MVS Files subsystems.
Accessing data set aliases that contain symbolic names The Remote Systems view supports access to data set aliases that contain symbolic names. For more information, see Defining and using data set aliases.
Preventing high CPU consumption when using large MVS-Files filters To reduce excessive CPU consumption on the z/OS host, the z/OS system administrator can limit the number of results that MVS data set filters can return. For information about how to limit the number, see Defining extra Java startup parameters with _RSE_JAVAOPTS and Working with large filters.
Choosing to show the submitted job in the Remote Systems view or the Remote System Details view You can choose between showing the submitted job in the Remote Systems view or the Remote System Details view (table view) on the JES preference page. For more information, see Setting JES subsystem preferences.
Choosing to display the oldest spool entries first (the default) or the newest spool entries first You can choose to display the oldest spool entries first (the default) or the newest spool entries first. You can add custom settings for a particular system by clicking the button Add. For more information, see Setting JES subsystem preferences.
Refreshing JES spool You can update the status of a selected job in the job view when you press Refresh or F5 on the job. If a job spool is opened in an editor for that particular job, the job spool is also updated with the latest entries. For more information, see The Jobs view.
Renaming the filter on the Filter Strings property page You can directly modify the name of the filter on the Filter Strings property page. For more information, see Changing and renaming filters.
Comparing JCLs of the submitted jobs You can compare the JCLs for two selected jobs from the Remote Systems view or the Remote System Details view. For more information, see Comparing JCLs of jobs.
Combining JCL Locate and Notify You can use the Locate and Notify features at the same time for submitted jobs. For more information, see Working with JES jobs.
Enabling autosave feature for JCL editor You can enable the autosave feature by clicking Window > Preferences > JCL > Editor > Autosave. For more information, see Creating local JCL files.
Setting the file translation table in the FTP connection dialog You can transfer files between the desktop machine file system and the z/OS file system by setting the file translation table in the FTP connection dialog box. For more information, see Configuring a z/OS FTP system connection.
Supporting JCL languages features that are introduced in z/OS V2R1 and V2R2. z/OS Explorer supports JCL languages features that are introduced in z/OS V2R1 and V2R2. For more information, see Creating local JCL files.
Supporting FIPS 140-2 for encrypted communication A variable is added to allow you to selects FIPS 140-2 standard for encrypted communication. For more information, see RSE - rse.env and (Optional) Enable FIPS 140-2 compliancy.
Enabling Value Unit (VU) client licensing z/OS Explorer client enables Value Unit (VU) client licensing for licensed products that are installed with z/OS Explorer version 3.0.1 and later. For more information, see Value Unit client licensing considerations.
Removing a default setting from a category or connection In the Host Connections view, if a connection is set as default, you can right-click a connection category and use the Remove from default connections option to remove the default setting. For more information, see Removing a default setting from a category or connection.
