You can install the HSM for Windows client on a
Microsoft cluster server (MSCS). With appropriate configuration, the HSM for Windows client can manage migration during failover and
failback processing.
Before you begin
You must install, configure, and register the Tivoli® Storage
Manager backup-archive client before you configure
and use the HSM for Windows client.
You must register the cluster node name with the Tivoli Storage
Manager server as
a client node.
About this task
Start the HSM for Windows client graphical
user interface (GUI) by entering the dsmgui.exe command
in the HSM for Windows client installation
directory.
Procedure
- Install the Tivoli Storage
Manager backup-archive
client and the HSM for Windows client on
a local drive on each cluster node.
- Specify the clusternode option in
the dsm.opt client options file of each backup-archive
client. Example code in a dsm.opt client
options file:

PASSWORDACCESS GENERATE
NODENAME WS2008R2CLUSTER
CLUSTERNODE YES

- Run the HSM for Windows client configuration wizard to
configure an HSM client.
- When the Cluster Configuration window opens, copy the Tivoli Storage Manager server administrative command grant proxynode
target=targetname agent=agentname from the
Cluster Configuration window.
- Run the command on the Tivoli Storage Manager server console,
operations center command prompt, or administrative client command prompt.
- Repeat step 3 on each cluster node.
