Launching IBM Industry Model components on Windows 8

Since Windows 8 no longer has a Windows Start menu, how can I launch the IBM Industry Models components, such as IBM m1?

About this task

In this topic, IBM Banking and Financial Markets Data Warehouse (BFMDW) is used as an example, but the same applies for other IBM Industry Models offerings. After you have installed BFMDW V8.6, the following tiles display on your Windows 8 start screen:

This topic shows how to add the remaining components, such as browse folders:

Procedure

  1. Move your cursor lower right of the screen to invoke the Windows Charm menu. Click Search.

  2. All the apps display with the following IBM Industry Models apps under IBM.

  3. Start each component from the apps screen or to pin each component onto your start screen:
    1. Right-click the icon.
    2. For each icon, click Pin to Start at the lower left.

Results

The start screen now shows the necessary Industry Models components.
