Lotus Notes documents are not processed because of conversion errors

If the body of a Lotus Notes email is in an unsupported code page, an error is reported in the log file. The email is not archived and is put on the blacklist.

Symptoms

A Lotus Notes document is not processed and is put on the blacklist. The following error message is written to the log file:

AFUL0007E: An unrecoverable error has occurred: 
The specified code page or encoding is not supported: 
The data cannot be converted from this code
page to Unicode: iso8859-1

Causes

An error occurred when Content Collector tried to convert text of the email from the specified code page to Unicode. The specified code page could not be found or is not supported.

Resolving the problem

Set the environment variable AFU_DEFAULT_BODY_TEXT_CODEPAGE as described in the topic about setting the environment variables. Content Collector can then use either a default code page or specific code page mappings to process email documents with an incorrect code page value.
