Creating, managing, and accessing IMS mobile services

Mobile service creation and management functions are provided by the IMS™ Explorer for Development.

About this task

The IMS Explorer for Development provides the tool that is required to create, enable, and publish a service to the IMS gateway server. It provides graphical user interfaces for the following functions:
  • Define a connection profile that consists of a name for the profile, the IMS host name and port number, IMS data store name, and other optional properties.
  • Import a COBOL copybook or PL/I source file to map the input and output messages.
  • Define an interaction properties profile.
  • Enable and publish the service by selecting fields to include in the interface and specifying any default field values.
  • Start, stop, edit, test, and delete the service.

  • Starting an IMS mobile service
    To start an IMS mobile service that is published on the IMS gateway server, use the HTTP PUT method to access the service URI and specify start as the action. System administrators and IMS application programmers can also test and start an IMS mobile service by using IMS Explorer for Development.
  • Stopping an IMS mobile service
    To stop an IMS mobile service, use the HTTP PUT method to access the service URI and specify stop as the action. System administrators or mobile application developers can also test and invoke an IMS mobile service by using IMS Explorer for Development.
  • Invoking an IMS mobile service
    To invoke an IMS mobile service that is published on the IMS gateway server, use the HTTP PUT or POST method to access the service URI and specify invoke as the action. System administrators and IMS application programmers can also test and invoke an IMS mobile service by using IMS Explorer for Development.
  • Obtaining service JSON schema
    To obtain the JSON schema for a service, use an HTTP GET request on the service URI with the getRequestSchema and getResponseSchema actions.
  • Obtaining the status of an IMS mobile service
    To find out the status of an IMS mobile service, use the HTTP GET method to access the service URI and specify status as the action.
  • Obtaining service configuration information
    To find out the configuration information about a service, such as the service type and service provider name, use an HTTP GET request on the service URI.
  • Obtaining service statistics
    To obtain statistic information about a service, use the HTTP GET method to access the service URI and specify getStatistics as the action, or the operations URI and specify the service name.
  • Discovering available services
    To discover available services on the IMS gateway server, use an HTTP GET request on the hostname:port/zosConnect/services/ URI.
  • Obtaining service provider statistics
    To obtain statistic data for a service provider, z/OS® Connect EE provides a getStatistics operation that authenticated users can call.
