Start of change
IMS Mobile Feature Pack for z/OS Connect is no longer enhanced. Instead, use the IMS service provider that is included in IBM z/OS Connect Enterprise Edition V2.0.5 (APAR PI70432) or later, which not only supports later releases of the Liberty server but additionally provides support for REST API creation and deployment. For the latest IMS mobile solution information, see Using the IMS service provider in z/OS Connect EE documentation.

System and operational requirements

IMS™ Mobile Feature Pack supports installation on z/OS® for REST/JSON access to IMS 14, 13, and 12, with more requirements for development tools and back-end server support.

Supported IMS versions

IMS 14, IMS 13, and IMS 12 transactions are supported.

z/OS requirements

z/OS V1.13 or later is required, as long as the version is supported by IBM®.

Required version of IBM Installation Manager for z/OS

IBM Installation Manager for z/OS V1.8.3 or later is required to install IMS Mobile Feature Pack. Order IBM Installation Manager for z/OS (PID: 5655-IMZ) from shopz and apply maintenance to upgrade to a minimum of V1.8.3 (PTF UI28795).

After the IMS Mobile Feature Pack FMID is processed through the SMP/E steps, an AEWIMINS job is provided to install IMS Mobile Feature Pack by using IBM Installation Manager for z/OS.

Required version of Java

The IMS Mobile Feature Pack runs on IBM 64-bit Java™ software development kit (SDK), Java Technology Edition, Version 7, with the minimum required version of V7.0.9.10. You can order Java for z/OS through Shopz by using PID 5655-W44 for Java for z/OS 64-bit. The non-SMP/E installable package can be downloaded from the download site at http://www.ibm.com/systems/z/os/zos/tools/java/.

Tooling requirements

IMS Enterprise Suite V3.2 Explorer for Development is required for modeling, creating, and testing IMS transactions as back-end services for mobile access. IMS Explorer for Development can be installed from the IBM-hosted mainframe development tools repository by using the IBM Installation Manager. Go to the Download Eclipse Tools page for installation instructions.

For server administration tasks, you can manually modify the server.xml file to configure for security. Server administration tasks and the server.xml file are described in the WebSphere® Application Server for z/OS Liberty Profile documentation. Optionally, you can use IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty Profile Developer Tools for Eclipse.

WebSphere Application Server Liberty Profile Developer Tools is a lightweight set of tools for developing, assembling, and deploying Java EE, OSGi, Web 2.0, and mobile applications to WebSphere Application Server. The developer tool for Liberty profile is available as part of the WebSphere Application Server Liberty Profile Developer Tools. You can use this tool to change the default value for the Java home directory, technical ID, technical group name, and the IMS service registry directory, or to configure SAF security. This tool can be installed from within the Eclipse workbench from the Eclipse Marketplace (Help > Eclipse Marketplace).

For more information about WebSphere Application Server Liberty Profile Developer Tools installation, see WebSphere Application Server Version 8.5 information.

Back-end server requirements

WebSphere Application Server for z/OS Liberty Profile and its z/OS Connect feature are required. The following table describes the detailed requirements that are based on your current environment.

Table 1. Scenarios for back-end server requirements
