Simplification of presenting catalog-related information

In application update 9.2.31, the way of presenting some of the information that is related to the content of the software catalog is changed. The changes are intended to simplify reports, make information that is relevant easily accessible, and remove information that is redundant or related to internal processes of License Metric Tool. Become familiar with the changes.

Software Components
The following changes are introduced on the Software Components report:
  • The Publisher column is hidden from the default report view to simplify it. Additionally, it is no longer a link.
  • The Component Definition Source column is removed as it contains internal License Metric Tool information.
  • The Description column is removed as it contains internal License Metric Tool information.
  • The Total Signatures column is removed as it duplicates information that you can obtain after you click a link in the Name column.
  • The Component GUID column is added to the default report view to make the information easily accessible, for example for REST API calls.
Changes on the Software Components report
When you click a link in the Name column, the following changes are introduced on the panel that opens:
  • The Publisher section is no longer be a link.
  • The Catalog Provider section is removed as it contains internal License Metric Tool information.
  • The Discovery and Usage sections is removed as all signatures that are available in License Metric Tool are used for discovery only.
Changes on the Software Components report
Signatures
The entire report is removed as it duplicates information that can already be found in different places. If you were using breadcrumbs that are available at the top of the report to access certain types of information, the information is available on different reports.
Changes on the Signatures report
  • Information from the Publishers section is no longer available as License Metric Tool discovers only IBM software.
  • Information from the Software Products section is available on the Products & Metrics report.
  • Information from the Software Versions section is no longer available as it is redundant. Software classification is performed on the product release level and license usage is reported on the product level. No actions in License Metric Tool are performed on the product version level.
  • Information from the Software Releases section is available after you click a link in the Product Name column on the Products & Metrics report.
  • Information from the Software Components section is available as a separate report from the Reports menu.
  • Information from the Signatures section is available after you click a link in the Name column on the Software Components report.
