Migrating to IBM Business Monitor V8.5.5 on Windows

You can migrate to IBM® Business Monitor V8.5.5 on Windows.
  • Preparing for migration
    Before you begin the migration procedure, verify that your target migration environment is supported and that your source migration environment is ready to be migrated.
  • Installing IBM Business Monitor V8.5.5
    Before you begin migration, install IBM Business Monitor V8.5.5 on a different computer, or in a different directory on the same computer as your previous version.
  • Extracting monitor model applications from the source environment
    Extract all monitor model applications from your source environment. You will deploy all the extracted monitor model applications to the target environment in a subsequent step. You need one snapshot for each deployment environment in your source cell.
  • Upgrading databases
    To migrate from WebSphere Business Monitor V6.2.0.3, you must stop the source environment and upgrade the existing MONITOR and Business Space database schemas. If you did not have a IBM Cognos® Business Intelligence content store database, you must create the database that IBM Cognos BI uses for the content store. You must also update the MONITOR database data.
  • Configuring IBM Business Monitor V8.5.5
    After you install IBM Business Monitor V8.5.5, create the IBM Business Monitor profiles. Then, use the monConfig script to configure the deployment environment.
  • Starting the target environment
    Start the new environment, including the deployment manager, managed node or nodes, and servers.
  • Migrating monitor model applications to the target environment
    Migrate monitor model applications that were extracted from the source environment into the target environment.
  • Migrating the Business Space V6.2.0.x data
    If you are migrating from IBM Business Monitor V6.2.0.x, then, after you upgrade the product databases (which upgrades the Business Space database schema), you must migrate the Business Space database data.
  • Migrating dashboards
    After you migrate your product to V8.5.5, you must do additional tasks before you start your servers or clusters and use dashboards.
