Creating and augmenting profiles

After you have installed IBM® Business Monitor, create at least one profile to prepare your runtime environment. You can create and augment profiles either through the Profile Management Tool or through the manageprofiles command.

About this task

There are three types of profiles: a stand-alone server profile, a deployment manager profile (a management profile with a deployment manager server), and a custom or managed node profile. Each profile defines a separate runtime environment, with separate commands, configuration files, and log files.

Restriction:
  • You cannot augment Business Monitor to any profile that supports IBM Business Process Manager. Business Monitor and Business Process Manager must be in separate cells.
  • If you are using Solaris, the Profile Management Tool user interface is not available. You must use the manageprofiles command to create or augment profiles.
