What's new in IBM Business Monitor V8.5.5

IBM® Business Monitor V8.5.5 includes enhancements to existing product capabilities.

New installation options
  • Install IBM Business Monitor on Ubuntu Linux LE for Power.
  • Install IBM Business Monitor in 64-bit mode only.
  • Install IBM Business Monitor on Linux for Power Systems Servers.
  • Install IBM Business Monitor in Production or Non-production mode, using either the Production or Non-production option.
  • For Linux operating systemFor UNIX operating systemInstall IBM Business Monitor in IBM Installation Manager group mode so that a group of users can share and manage packages by using only one instance of Installation Manager.

See Installing the IBM Business Monitor software.

Install a stand-alone test environment
  • For Windows operating systemUsing the IBM Integration Designer installer, you can accomplish the following tasks:
    • Install an IBM Business Monitor test environment with a stand-alone profile.
    • Test environments for both IBM Business Process Manager and IBM Business Monitor with individual stand-alone profiles in separate cells.
See Installing, upgrading, and uninstalling IBM Integration Designer.
Create deployment environments
  • To create a deployment environment for the clusters and servers that the IBM Business Monitor components and monitor models can be deployed across, you can use the monConfig.sh or monConfig.bat script. The script requires input from a properties file that is customized with the configuration values for your deployment environment. See Creating a deployment environment by using the monConfig script.
Migrate more easily
  • More easily extract monitor model applications from the source environment, upgrade the existing databases, and install the monitor model applications in the target environment.
  • Choose a new topology that has a different cluster layout, different hardware, or a different operating system. See Migrating your IBM Business Monitor environment.
More easily configure Business Monitor to receive events
  • Define events to be monitored while you are creating a monitor model. You can select the application where events for that model are emitted. Only events that the model requires are emitted.
  • Update monitor models without stopping the event sources.
  • Use new wsadmin commands to do administrative tasks more easily.
  • Change the default behavior of existing applications that use Common Event Infrastructure (CEI) so that you continue to receive CEI events.
See Configuring Business Monitor to receive events from IBM BPM V8.5.5.
Manage event sources by using new commands
  • To manage event-source configurations for monitor models, you can use the new event source commands that are described in Event source management administrative commands. You can use the commands to add remote event sources to specified versions of monitor models.
Extend the visualization of your reports
  • Because IBM Business Monitor is fully integrated with IBM Cognos® Business Intelligence V10.2.1.x, you can add extensible visualizations to reports that are displayed on your Business Monitor dashboards. To learn more about IBM Rapidly Adaptive Visualization Engine (RAVE) reports, see the Cognos Business Intelligence Knowledge Center.
