IBM XL Fortran for Blue Gene/Q provides
an interactive utility,
xlf_install,
that walks you through a basic installation. You can use
xlf_install to:
- Install IBM® XL
Fortran for Blue Gene®/Q,
V14.1 on
a system where no IBM XL compiler
is currently installed.
- Replace an earlier version of XL Fortran with IBM XL
Fortran for Blue Gene/Q,
V14.1.
- Install IBM XL
Fortran for Blue Gene/Q,
V14.1 to
co-reside with an existing and lower version of XL Fortran for Blue Gene®/Q.
- Install IBM XL
Fortran for Blue Gene/Q,
V14.1 on
a system where Linux XL C/C++ for Blue Gene/Q, V12.1 is
already installed.
In this case, both compilers will use the IBM MASS library provided with IBM XL
Fortran for Blue Gene/Q,
V14.1.

- Install an update on a system where IBM XL
Fortran for Blue Gene/Q,
V14.1 has
already been installed.
In this case, use the procedure in Updating a basic installation using the xlf_install utility.
By running the xlf_install utility,
you are prompted to accept or decline the license agreement. If you
accept the agreement, the license files will be output to .txt files
for your future reference. If you decline the agreement, the installation
process exits without installing the compiler and no files will be
written to your system.
You should consider a basic installation of
IBM XL
Fortran for Blue Gene/Q,
V14.1 with
xlf_install utility
on a system as long as
all of the following conditions apply:
- You are installing the compiler to the default location, /opt/ibmcmp/.
- You are maintaining a single version of the product on your system.
- The Blue Gene/Q tool chain is installed in
the default location, /bgsys/drivers/ppcfloor.
If any of these conditions does not apply, use the
procedures in Advanced installation.
