This installation guide covers IBM® XL C/C++ for Blue Gene®/Q, V12.1.
The term IBM XL
C/C++ for Blue Gene/Q,
V12.1 refers
to the Blue Gene/Q compiler.
You must install IBM XL
C/C++ for Blue Gene/Q,
V12.1 on
the Blue Gene/Q Front
End Node. If you use an I/O Node to log in and compile Blue Gene/Q programs, you must install
the compiler both on the Front End Node and I/O Node.
Before you install
IBM XL
C/C++ for Blue Gene/Q,
V12.1,
perform the following tasks:
- Consult the product README file for any last-minute updates.
- Familiarize yourself with the installation image, which contains
the installable compiler packages.
- Ensure that system prerequisites are met and that all required
software packages are installed.
- Become either the root user or a user with administrator privileges.
Upgrading the evaluation
copy of the XL C/C++ compiler
If
you are using the evaluation copy of the
XL C/C++ compiler,
use one of the following options to upgrade it to a full product version:
- Use xlc_install to
install the full product version of the XL C/C++ compiler
as described in Basic installation. It uninstalls
the evaluation copy and then installs the full product version.
- Install only the vac.bg.lic RPM
packages for the full product version of the XL C/C++ compiler
and run vac_configure to
re-configure the compiler.
