Overview of configuration parameters
The OMEGAMON monitoring agents use parameters for setting and storing configuration values. The value of these parameters can be set using the new PARMGEN configuration method.
KM2 parameters
The KM2 parameters configure OMEGAMON components. They generate parameter library entries that are used in common with the Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server , the OMEGAMON realtime collector task, and the CSA/Analyzer task.
KM5 parameters
KM5 parameters are used to define Sysplex-level entities, assign a current runtime environment to a Sysplex, install product-specific data on the Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server , and register the monitoring agent in the Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server address space. These parameters also configure the persistent data store for OMEGAMON for z/OS historical data and allocate the data sets to store the Sysplex-level and system- level data, and to enable features such as event-forwarding, use of RMF data, and Netview security validation.
Situations
Situations are descriptions of conditions that you want to monitor on your z/OS systems. OMEGAMON for z/OS provides predefined situations which check for system conditions that are typically considered to be problematic or noteworthy and trigger event indicators in the Tivoli Enterprise Portal Navigator.
Workspaces
OMEGAMON for z/OS provides two sets of predefined workspaces for the Tivoli Enterprise Portal : Sysplex-level and system-level. These workspaces provide data in tabular and graphic form and enable you to effectively monitor the availability, resource consumption and performance of your Sysplexes and their component z/OS systems.
Inspect messages
These messages are issued by the Inspect agent and displayed in the Agent Messages view of the Inspect Address Space CPU Use workspace.
Disk space requirements for OMEGAMON for z/OS historical data tables
The installation documentation for your OMEGAMON products provides the basic space requirements for the Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server , Tivoli Enterprise Portal , the Tivoli Enterprise Portal Server, and the monitoring agents themselves. These basic space requirements do not include the additional space that is required for maintaining historical data files.
