Running the online and stand-alone diagnostics

Use these diagnostic tools to diagnose hardware problems on servers or logical partitions that are running in the AIX® or Linux environment.

Use these diagnostics only if you are directed to do so by your next level of support or your hardware service provider.

Diagnostics are available for systems or logical partitions that are running in the AIX or Linux environment, which can help you perform hardware analysis. Additionally, various service aids in AIX diagnostics can help you with service tasks on the system or logical partition. If there is a problem, you will receive a service request number (SRN) that can help you identify the problem and determine a corrective action.

If you have AIX installed and it is running, you can perform online diagnostics. However, if the installed AIX cannot be started or if you have Linux installed, you need to run the diagnostics from CD or from a Network Installation Management (NIM) server.
