Removing and replacing the time-of-day battery card in the 8408-44E or 8408-E8E

Learn how to remove and replace the time-of-day battery card in the 8408-44E or 8408-E8E system.

The time-of-day battery card is required to power the system real-time clock so that the time and date settings are continuously maintained in the system. The time-of-day battery card is installed into slot P1-C5-C1, which is located on the service processor card.

You can remove and replace the time-of-day battery card in the 8408-44E or 8408-E8E system concurrently or nonconcurrently.
Note: If the procedure is done nonconcurrently, the time-of-day settings need to be reset using the Advanced System Management Interface (ASMI).
