Changing a virtual switch
From a server that is managed by the Hardware Management Console (HMC), you can change the attributes of a PowerVM® virtual switch.
To change a virtual switch, complete the following steps:
- Choose one of the following navigation options depending on the interface type of the Hardware Management Console (HMC):
- If you are using an HMC Enhanced interface, complete the following steps:
- In the navigation pane, expand Systems Management > Servers.
- In the work pane, select the server on which you want to change the virtual switch.
- Select Manage PowerVM by using one of the following options to open the
PowerVM Configuration page:
- Click the menu next to the server name and select Manage PowerVM.
- In the work pane, click Manage PowerVM.
- If you are using an HMC Enhanced+ interface, complete the following steps:
- In the navigation pane, click the Resources icon .
- Click All Systems. The All Systems page is displayed.
- In the work pane, select a system and click Actions > View System Properties. You can view and change the properties of the system that are listed under the PowerVM area.
- If you are using an HMC Enhanced interface, complete the following steps:
- In the PowerVM area, click Virtual Networks. The Virtual Networks page opens.
- In the work pane, expand Virtual Switches.
- Right-click the virtual switch that you want to change and select Modify Virtual Switch.
- Change the name of the virtual switch in the Virtual Switch Name field.
- Change the mode of the virtual switch to virtual Ethernet bridging (VEB) or virtual Ethernet
port aggregator (VEPA). Note: The VEPA mode option is available on VEPA-capable hardware only.
- Click OK to apply the changes.
