Error description
You are trying to browse a PDS with the z/OS Explorer and it gets stuck "fetching". Review of the logs show that a StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: com.ibm.cics.zos.ui.views.TreeAsynchronousMediator.run(IProgress Monitor)() [java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException] occurred. Review of the trace log further shows that the z/OS Explorer threw this exception because data for a member it received from the Host, did not contain an ID. For example: Name VV.MM Changed Size Init Mod Id TestFile 01.00 2014/03/20 14:45 22 0 0 Since no ID was returned, this caused the StringIndexOutOfBoundsException. Additional Symptom(s) Search Keyword(s): KIXREVSWM
Local fix
Edit/Save the members that do not have an ID so that one gets assigned.
Problem summary
You are trying to browse a PDS with the IBM Explorer for z/OS. It gets stuck "fetching" the data set member. Review of the logs show that a StringIndexOutOfBoundsException excption occurred. This occurs when the member being edited has statistic information, but does not have an associated user id to identify which user made the last edit. This does not affect sequential data sets.
Problem conclusion
The z/OS Explorer has been updated so that data sets that do not have an associated user ID can be edited successfully. This fix will be made available in Version 2.1.0.6 of the IBM Explorer for z/OS.
