Error description

  • Job with Oracle EE stage only works when date is sent in the
format "DD-MON-RR" even if database setting for NLS_DATE_FORMAT
    is different.

I upgraded from DataStage 7.5.1A to DataStage 7.5.3 and at 7.5.3
I can no longer send dates as "MM-DD-YYYY". A simple job sending
in the date as "MM-DD-YYYY" no longer works at 7.5.3. The job
    aborts with the error:

    ORA-01843: not a valid month

If I send the date as "DD-MON-RR" the job is successful.

Local fix

  • Send date in "DD-MON-RR" format.

This fix is included in 8.0.1 fix pack 3

Problem conclusion

  • The operator is altering the session properties territory and
    language.
These actions are not warranted and are causing user
    environmentvariable NLS_DATE_FORMAT overridden.

Setting NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS with int program is
    necessary andsufficient.
