Update to default installation directories in the Data Protection for Oracle: Installation and User's Guide for UNIX and Linux V8.1.0.
In Data Protection for Oracle for UNIX and Linux, the default installation directories have been updated. Depending on your operating system, the directory paths are as follows:
Operating system | Directory path |
AIX (Data Protection for Oracle Utilities) | /usr/tivoli/tsm/client/oracle/bin64 |
AIX (IBM® Spectrum Protect API 64-bit) | /usr/tivoli/tsm/client/api/bin64 |
UNIX and Linux | /opt/tivoli/tsm/client/oracle/bin64 |
In the Configuration with Default Settings topic, the directory paths listed in the following step in the procedure have been corrected to refer to the new paths.
"Make sure that the <oracle user> has the following permissions:
- Read (r) permission to /usr/tivoli/tsm/client/oracle/bin64 and /usr/tivoli/tsm/client/api/bin64 directories
- Read permission (r-) to the tdpo.opt, dsm.opt, and dsm.sys files in the /usr/tivoli/tsm/client/oracle/bin64 and /usr/tivoli/tsm/client/api/bin64 directories."

Correction - TDPO_OPTFILE variable must be specified in uppercase characters on UNIX systems
In the Data Protection for Oracle: Installation and User's Guide for UNIX and Linux, it states that the TDPO_OPTFILE variable can be specified in either lowercase or uppercase in an RMAN script. However, you must specify the TDPO_OPTFILE variable in uppercase characters only.
This correction will be published in the Editing RMAN scripts topic in the next release of IBM Spectrum Protect for Databases: Data Protection for Oracle.

Update to configuration of password files due to new security settings delivered with Version 8.1.2 of IBM Spectrum Protect client
Beginning in IBM Spectrum Protect version 8.1.2, several enhancements to security settings were introduced that are relevant when an IBM Spectrum Protect™ client connects to an IBM Spectrum Protect server version 8.1.2 and later.
These security enhancements are also relevant for IBM Spectrum Protect for Databases: Data Protection for Oracle because they affect how you configure the Data Protection for Oracle password files (and associated access permissions) using the tdpoconf utility.
For information on how to configure Data Protection for Oracle using the new security settings and SSL-based communications, see technote 27050606.
The updated Configuration with Default Settings topic will also be published with the next release of IBM Spectrum Protect for Databases: Data Protection for Oracle.
